Penn Wood Wins McDonald's Classic

Over the weekend, Penn Wood won two games in Erie, Pennsylvania to take home the crown of the McDonald's Classic. On Friday night, the Patriots defeated Mt. Vernon out of New York state. Mt. Vernon features one of the more highly regarded junior guards in the Northeast, Jabarie Hinds. In the Friday win, Aaron Brown led the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds, while junior center Shawn Oakman had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

On Saturday, in the championship game of the event, Penn Wood defeated Nichols, a Buffalo high school team led by Virginia-bound big-man Will Regan. Regan, for the most part, was kept in check by Oakman, who had 13 points and 9 rebounds. Regan led Nichols with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Aaron Brown, again, was the leading scorer for Penn Wood with 24.

  1. Great tournament for both Penn Wood and Hawk recruits Aaron Brown and Shawn Oakman. Both would be immediate contributors to the Hawks.
